Green Tea Rinse: A Refreshing Finish That Respects Realistic Expectations
Green tea is packed with polyphenols such as EGCG—interesting molecules in lab and dietary studies. When you splash cool, unsweetened tea on your skin, you are mainly getting a mildly astringent, antioxidant-rich water that can feel tightening and fresh after cleansing.
Steep one bag in roughly one cup of just-boiled water for three to four minutes, strain, cool completely, and pour into a clean glass pump or jar. Store in the refrigerator no longer than three days; discard if it clouds or smells off.
Use it as a final rinse or press it in with a soft cotton pad—no need to leave it on as a film. It does not replace broad-spectrum sunscreen, retinoids, or vitamin C serums if those are part of your plan.
If you develop stinging, stop. Tea is mild, but skin reactions are individual.
Quick tip: Write the brew date on masking tape on the jar so “I will use this soon” actually happens.
